Tutor one child.  Change two lives.

Patrick Beaver Learning Resource Center invites you to be part of the team of tutors that is empowering students throughout Catawba County.

We train and support volunteer tutors who provide free, one-to-one instruction in literacy skills to struggling readers from low-income families.  Tutors help children improve their reading, writing, and spelling skills.

An Augustine Literacy Project tutor provides 60 free lessons to a low-income child to help him or her become a better reader.

Find out more about the Augustine Literacy Project at our informational coffees.  Check our Connect page for dates and times.

To become a tutor:

  1. Contact our office by phone or email to register for training.
  2. Attend the entire Augustine Literacy Project® training.
  3. Start impacting a child’s life as soon as our office pairs you with a student.

To find out when our tutor trainings are scheduled, check out our Connect page.  For more information or to register, call 828-624-2012 or email info@patrickbeaverlrc.org. Sign up today to reserve your spot.

The Augustine Literacy Project of Hickory is proud to receive support from Catawba County United Way.
