In order to best fulfill our mission, we focus our efforts on supporting children, families and teachers. We empower students through the tutoring that they receive through the Augustine Literacy Project. We encourage parents to get involved in their children’s education through LIFT (Learning is Fun Together) and understand the challenges their children face through PAVE (Parents As Voices in Education). We equip teachers through sponsoring Orton Gillingham training and other educational opportunities.
We empower students by providing free, individualized tutoring to low income students who read at least one year below grade level.
In the summer, Patrick Beaver Learning Resource Center sponsors the training of eighteen teachers in Catawba County in the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading.
PAVE sessions teach parents about learning differences so they can better understand the struggles their children experience and better support their children at home.
Learning Is Fun Together encourages parents to be involved in their children’s education and promotes reading in the home.
